KOTA KINABALU: A housewife was acquitted and discharged by the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday from a charge of using as genuine a fake account statement last year.

Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie ordered for Bibe Bujang, 37, to be acquitted and discharged without calling for her defence after ruling that the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case against Bibe.

The same magistrate also acquitted and discharged Bibe from another charge of attempting to use as genuine a fake work offer letter and payslip under a company’s name, citing that the prosecution had failed to make out a prima facie case against the woman.

The two offences were alleged to have been committed at a company here on October 29, 2018 and November 3, 2018 respectively.

The prosecution called four witnesses to testify against Bibe, who was represented by counsel Azhier Farhan Arisin.
